onicam is a Japanese slang term combining two words. The first is a Japanese word and the second English. On the second word you are looking for the second meaning.

oni [1] (noun) - First appeared 1954 - 1: japanese slang for dragon and or monster.

camber [2] (noun) - First appeared 1823 - 1 : the convexity of the curve of an airfoil from the leading edge to the trailing edge -  2 : a setting of the wheels of an automotive vehicle closer together at the bottom than at the top

Why Onicam? The better question is why not?

1995 Acura Integra 1.8L - Status : Running
[The car has been returned to its old self. Ie. it is running once again, this time with another "stock" B18B1 engine. We shall see how long this one lasts. oh and Happy New Year!]

This is something I have learned through the years I've been meddling around with cars. You must understand the principals behind the concepts that lead to yada yada yada. Who cares.. There are a few major points you need to know when you decide that you've had it with you stock car and that you feel the need for speed. If you are still reading this good.. for you will now find out what they are.. and the other suckers will follow the same path that I did.. er wait.. just forget that last part.

If you read the above paragraph well you have my condolences. This is where you can find information about you questions, if your lucky. Mostly it will be here that the horror stories of my life will come into play. You will be able to find out how not to install a Crane Ignition or what happens when nitrous oxide backfires threw you intake manifold. Sounds like fun? Lets get started... let me just finish this beer...

Well, where to start off. I think a little introduction is probably at hand. My name is Joshua, and I am the main contributor to this and other import websites on the net. Onicam was the name of a car club in the Washington D.C. area for a while. This club is now non existent. All that is left is this domain name and a few stickers. So instead of letting my seventy five dollars go to waste, I decided I'd share with you all my trials and tribulations involved in the murky world of import tuning. Still with me? alright.... From here we will divulge the information about my car in particular.

There she is, a 1995 Acura Integra LS-SE. Its a GS-R Lite as I like to refer to it. The LS-SE is a little known edition of the Integra family, its basically a GS-R without the engine. Perfect for those of you seeking to look like a geesssrrr but with the insurance record of a wrc rally driver. This is what my base is for performance, basically your run of the mill Acura LS with its puny one hundred and forty hp figures. From this base I started as with most do an intake system. For most of us this is where we start our need for speed or lack there of in most instances. My first intake was a DC Sports Air MAX system (as seen in the picture somewhere on your page hopefully somewhere close to this section of the text.) It may have not been much but I was happy with it for the time being. As you will find out in your quest for speed things seem to wear off fast. Sure my intake looked cool and it sure sounded cool at WOT (wide open throttle) but I doubt that there was any performance increase. I've had quite a few intake systems since this one, including a R.S. Akimoto something or other its been a while since I've had it so excuse me if I don't remember the model. I've had a Greddy AIRNIX which was alright until Progressive Motorsports decided that he should try and destroy my perfectly good automobile with a less than adequate nitrous install. I wish I had pictures of the intake after the fireball had ripped threw it and destroyed it. Alas such is life tho, you always never have a camera around when you need unless you a photography or just a sicko who carries a camera around for fun. Currently there is a R.S Akimoto filter on my car that connects to a custom (ie. a few 3" bends of exhaust piping) intake stack that leads to the "turbo" ( I like to use quotes, it makes me feel "powerfull"). We will get to that later. From there I was whisked off to the world of plug wires..

Let me tell you what a feeling it is getting you're first set of plug wires. I'm still kind of choked up about it. That's why its hard to let go when someone steals them off you're car. Here is hard lesson number one, when you live in a suburban area you're cars going to get f'd (ie. messed up, breathed on wrong) up. People seem to have no values today and like to decide that hey you've got something nice, and I want it now. So yes.. my baby Magnacore plug wires were raped and taken from my life. Sorry, I just get a bit upset when I am reminded of such atrocities. Anyway, these wires also probably didn't really do much for my basically stock motor but hey they looked cool and featured the words Magnacore 8.5mm written on a red wire, which is just cool in anyone's book. Now if you are planning on doing a ignition upgrade such as Crane, Jacobs or MSD I would recommend upgrading you stock wires. As the improved wires will help the spark and lower the something or other. I've seen no need to get 10mm wires as of yet and I don't think there's anyone out there who can prove to me that you should also. Besides the 10mm wires don't fit into the wire holders and such, tre uncool. From this point on is where I started spending the big bucks, and got my self a Greddy SL exhaust. (Note: The SL is no longer available, such is the case with all good products.) I liked this exhaust and it did me no harm. It was nice and low not loud or raspy but deep. This in cooperation with the DC Sports intake made the car scream at redline. If it's possible for a 1.8l to scream. It was nice and shiny and it made my neighbors dog jealous. Which is really what it's all about in the world. You know I'm right. No rust, a few dings here and there from venturing into D.C. but other than that it had served my needs well. As for now tho, I had to move onto a bigger and better exhaust. More on that in a bit. Most of my parts were bought from local retail shops and hardly from mail order. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. I will tell you that if you don't "know" someone than you'll probably end up paying a lot more than I did. This is an industry that rewards friends and punishes those who burn bridges. I have found this out and I currently live with this problem.  I feel I have been treated fairly in this industry few times and well the most of the time I get the shaft. A few of the shops I've visited have since gone under and it seems to be the more recent trend of shops around this area. Although there is always a new shop ready to take its place. After my exhaust, and my intake. I didn't buy anything for a while as I was please with the way the car was.

This lasted about 15 to 20 minutes after I saw a similar Integra that had been lowered. Such is my quest to be the coolest kat around I had to have springs. So then I decided to turn to probably the most unlikely of sources for springs. Sears! Yes.. Sears.. Well not actually but they are a subsidiary of Sears. NTW or now NTB. I decided that I would try on a national chain that had at least some idea of what customer service was and give them a shot. Hard lesson number 2. Customer Serivces means you have to pay for it. Lucky I was equipped with my Sears Card and I said charge it. Two weeks later I had a mean set of Eibach Pro-Kits installed in less than an hour on my Integra. I was quite please with the way the car handled, although I was less impressed with the ride comfort but such is the knifes edge of aftermarket performance. Let me just tell you that you can't always get what you want in this world. I don't care tho, its a sports car its supposed to ride rough I will suffer. The Eibach kit which dropped my car about 1.75" all around is well made and crafted and I highly recommend it over such fly by night brands, who's quality may not be up to such standards. Currently I have a set of kg/mm springs on my car that were imported from Japan. I love these springs but the drop is too much for me, at 2.5" its hard to get around and I'm running into trouble with my axels. (Note: Suspension geometry is a major point to the life of your car. If you plan on lowering your car past a certain point the suspension can not compensate for the angles and such, you "will" run into cv joint and axel problems.) I plan on getting a set of kg/mm coil over shocks/springs or buddyclub when ever I decide I don't need to eat and I'd rather have a full on suspension system. This is where I leave you for now.. next update? soon...

Hello, again! Back again from yet another dose of holiday merriments. I hope everyone's holiday was uh eventful and fruitful or something like that. We here at onicam.com rolled into y2k without any glitches or so it seems as far. Who knows. I got my car back in late November.. around the 30th actually. Enough about that tho... I will start where I left off. I'm still looking for someone to purchase my kg/mm dr2 springs. They are for an Integra (DC2) but they will also work on Civics (EK and EG) so if you are interested please let me know! After my springs I purchased a strut tower bar and some other items that should remain nameless.. mostly stickers and junk.. Hey it kind of looks like its faster... ahem okay yeah yeah.. I don't need to hear the comments. So I was riding around on my car.. I thought I was pretty fly... I could mess around with most civics and win.. although I did get into it with a Buick Regal or something.. he kind of uh dusted me.. but hey... Supercharged V6's are no match for the Sticker powered Integra. I've gone threw a lot of rims while I've had the car.. people ask me why do I keep buying new wheels.. Hey I like change.. and wheels make or brake the car in my opinion. I've had about five sets of wheels (rims) since I've owned the car. Some good.. some bad... most of them cheap and not of the best quality.. Currently the car rides on ADR Spiders in 17x7 inch format. They are a cheap take off of the Mugen MF-8's which only come in 16inch sizes. So these are what I'm driving around on now.. I've come to use Yokohamma Tires often, they seem to handle and ride well in most weather. They are also not on the expensive side more of the middle price range. Currently I'm using A520's, they are a little less sticky than the AVS Intermediates that I was using before. They also handle a bit better in the rain tho. I'd recommend them to most of my friends.. and even some of my enemies. Enough about tires and wheels for now.. After driving around NA I decided it was a time for the bottle.. and I don't mean just any bottle.. but the Blue Bottle.. NOS... More on that later...
